This 1942 “warbox” is nestled amidst tall trees and flowering plants on a quiet street in West Seattle. Its 550 sq. ft. footprint is tiny so we had the freedom to make the exterior brilliant, yet nestle into the environment. A spring green is used for the body of the house, a mineral red for the back addition, front doors and gutters, and a warm off-white for window trim. What makes this combination work so well is the dark, earthy red mixed with bright green. Found in nature but unusual on a house, the look is sturdy yet adorable.
